canning

we were invited to go to a farm with some friends and pick vegetables. we spent an entire morning picking and bagging vegetables. after spending so much time in the fields we let the kids play and have some fun. the farm had a corn maze, go carts and a large hill made out of hay to climb.

first we rode on a hay filled wagon. they would drop us off in a field and we would get out and grab as much as we could until they made us get back on.

here is anais trying to hide in the corn inside the corn maze.

the kids had so much fun riding the go carts. somehow they got the idea that they were bumper cars instead.

after leaving the farm we took all the bags of veggies back to katy and jason's house where we proceeded to spend 2 days cleaning, cutting and canning or freezing everything. it was a ton of work. but it felt great to be able to accomplish so much! although the kids had fun playing with each other for 2 days straight, they really did help a lot. they helped pick, clean and clean up. they were all such troopers!

here are all the bags of vegetables. they were many... we picked tomatoes, potatoes, green bell peppers, jalapenos and other various peppers, basil, onions, carrots, corn, and green beans. we made a ton of salsa to can and then roasted many peppers. we had so much fun.
