anniversary

on august 15th joe and i celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary. in honor of such an event we thought it was time to finally (after 2.5 years) get an entire weekend away without the kids. my mom and dad graciously offered to watch them for the weekend and joe and i headed up to one of our favorite pre kids places- breckenridge. we have been up there many times but had not been since becoming parents. its a little town tucked away in the mountains near vail. we love it there! we planned on hiking and taking the gondola up the mountain to have lunch. we were going to hang out by the river and planned on using the hot tub and pool at the lodge as well. as we all know things don't always work out as we plan. that weekend happened to be the coldest ever on record for that weekend. we can handle cold, it doesn't make for great hiking or swimming but it also decided to rain, hail and snow all weekend. but we made the best of it and went out in between thunder storms to go walk around downtown and swim. fortunately restaurants and bars are all in doors so we managed to find places to go.

once it cleared up we were able to hang out in town. this is the river that runs through town.


this is one of the hot tubs. it has a beautiful view. we were able to swim in the pool and sit in the the hot tub for a good 45 minutes before it starting hailing again.


before our very late dinner reservations on our anniversary joe and i found this little bar that had no one in it except for us , the bartender his 2 dogs and 2 other patrons. it also had a cool jukebox. plus it was happy hour. so we just hung out for an hour or so before dinner and listened to good music and had a few drinks. the very sweet dog named titan kept coming over to hang out with us. it was very nice to have the whole place to ourselves, almost. joe took the above picture of me.

we had such a great weekend! i love rain so it was actually very relaxing, i thought, to have the gloomy rain. we decided we shouldn't have waited so long to get away.
