vera had been looking for a book to read lately so i kept recommending a book we had on our shelf- "the giver". she had read another book by the same author and loved it. but she has been very hesitant to read it. she finally told us why... she thought the guy on the cover was creepy and said she didn't want to have to look at him all the time. so joe fixed it. he made a book cover to put over it so she wouldn't have to see his face. problem solved, she's almost done with the book and she loves it.
who doesn't want to look at flowers and kittens all the time?

lois lawry is the one that wrote the books about anastasia, isn't she? If yes, I used to love those books. I will have to check out the giver.
yes- it is one in the same. she has a great book that vera also loved called number the stars. she hasn't read the anastasia books yet.
