we have been watching the boys in our family spend months building and decorating ricky's pinewood derby car. while this was joe and ricky's first time they had the help of an old pro, my dad. rick and joe would go over to my dad's to work on the cutting and sanding and wheels while at home they sanded some more, painted it and decorated it. culminating in the coolest looking car at the derby. literally. ricky won a trophy for best in show.

the other really great thing about the race was that so many people in our family were able to come and cheer ricky on. nana and grandpa, chris, michelle and their girls (plus one of their cousins on michelle's side that ricky sometimes plays with) as well as uncle steve and his friend kristen. we had the biggest crowd! ricky was overjoyed to have such a big turnout for his big race.
we are so proud of the amount of work and heart the boys out into the car. we can't wait to see what happens next year! congratulations ricky.
