i was reading a magazine yesterday and they had decorating ideas for thanksgiving. now, i don't really decorate for this holiday unless the kids bring home some sort of festive craft they've made at school, but i just thought this particular idea was very cool. it's called a thankful tree.
i went and cut a small branch from our tree outside (it needed to be trimmed anyhow) and put it into a flowerpot filled with rocks. i suppose you could use whatever you want to fill up the pot as long as it holds the branch in place. then i cut out some cardstock paper in the shape of leaves and let everyone pick a color. on each leaf we all wrote what we were thankful for. then we tied some string to them and hung them on the tree. the kids loved it and it was quick. i think it looks pretty neat. i wrote the year on the back of all the leaves and thought we could save them every year and then add the new ones as the years go by. it looks very bare right now but in a few years it will be full of the things we are grateful for i imagine. joe's sister is visiting this year so i had her make a leaf as well, then we can remember who we spent the holiday with each year also.
so i guess we now have a thanksgiving decoration.

Hello! The link worked!
Your kids are adorable! You've got lots of fun stuff going on in Colorado: Rudy (what a crowd, he looked like a rock star...), hayless hay rides, cute craft ideas. Very nice.
Go back to my blog & I am going to leave my e-mail address so I can see what you have been up to all these years, ok?
