avalanche

a while after we got the kids a woman at our adoption support group suggested that a way to help the bonding process with our kids would be to take them to do something special for their birthdays just mom and dad and them instead of buying them toys and such. for rickys birthday we got tickets for the 3 of us to go see an avalanche hockey game. i have never seen him so excited! the 3 of us had a great time despite the sudden snow storm that night making a very nasty and long drive to and from denver.

during the first intermission we wandered around the pepsi center and explored the gift shops. we found some really great things. but settled on an overpriced puck.

here was the bonus of of our night...
we played the phoenix coyotes... who happen to be coached by... my childhood sports hero... wayne gretzky!
it was very nice to see him again. we were fortunate enough to see him play the avs his last year before retiring while playing for the rangers. this time it was pretty exciting to actually be able to see his facial expressions which were often quite dramatic.

yes, we were far away, but our zoom is pretty good eh?
